Worshipful and full of vibrant energy, The Purest Place draws on the group's roots as worship leaders to take listeners on an engaging and moving emotional journey. The title is an indication of where the band wants to find themselves - in the center of God's heart, the purest place.

Watermark returns to their worship roots November 16, 2004
Reviewer: Anonymous from www.thejman.com

IN A PHRASE: Watermark returns with a great worship project that has the power to lead the listener into the purest place, the presence of their King.

Watermark’s newest offering, The Purest Place, could be seen as a complete homecoming to who they were before they were signed by Rocketown. If you’re not familiar with Watermark, let me give you a little history lesson.

Watermark is made up of husband-wife duo, Nathan and Christy Nockels, who began their “career” in the music world as lead worshippers at Passion Conferences where many of today’s modern worship artists originally hail from. Since then they have been discovered by Rocketown Records and have been a very successful addition to their roster.

The only problem with this is that Watermark has lost their “worship touch” in some ways, trading it in for the adult contemporary norm. I believe The Purest Place proves that they never lost sight of their roots steeped in modern worship, especially when you think of the friends they brought in to collaborate.

Another thing that isn’t well understood by newcomers to Watermark is the place that Nathan holds in the group, especially since Christy’s vocals are the dominant factor of the group. Nathan’s production is what makes Watermark who they are. It really comes into play on this record as vocalists like Tim Hughes, Charlie Hall, and Danielle Young of Caedmon’s Call join Christy to add some more vocal flavor to these already great lyrics.

Many of these tracks will easily work their way into worship conferences and churches across the country, and yet they won’t lose the interest of radio since they’re so superbly produced, which is rare for worship music.

Tracks like Soli Deo Gloria, You Are, and My Covering beg for repeat as you sing along, while The Glory of Your Name, inspired by The Passion of the Christ, brings the movie back to your remembrance as you’re captivated again by the Cross.

Holy Roar and Captivate Us (with Charlie Hall) allude themselves back to the influence of the Passion conferences on their music, as Hidden In You and Knees To The Earth call us to find that place where God is a part of everything we are.

My final word…

This album is for those who want a contemplative worship experience that takes them farther into the presence of God than the normal CD has the power to do. Watermark has created a spectacular project that remembers what was and looks forward to the future of their music’s reach.

God Driven Music March 8, 2005
Reviewer: from Houston, Tx

This is an amazing cd. These two are some of the most talented Christian artists out there. Knees to the Earth is such a powerful song, that it creates a mood of realizing how great He is. Seeing them lead praise live is such an experience. Watermark never dissapoints.

Amazing!! May 15, 2005
Reviewer: Amy from California

Watermark never disappoints and this rich album of focusing on the Lord and all that He is, is no exception.
From the insightful poem in the beginning to the last note of Mended, sincerity, humility, passion, and beauty shine through. The Purest Place is Jesus and in Him we find majesty and grace.
Christy's vocal performance is the best yet, and Nathan's production work has continued to grow in creativity. There isn't a dull moment on this CD.
If you need music to keep you focused on the truth of who God is and our appropriate response to Him..this is the CD for you.

A Call To Worship August 21, 2005
Reviewer: Summer from NC

This is the first album I have owned by Watermark. Their songs are so encouraging and they all point to the Lord and how wonderful He is! I really have found it as a call to worship, and this album has been a huge encouragement to me because of it. The lyrics are very deep and Scripture-based, which is hard to find sometimes in more recent albums. I definitely recommend purchasing this album - I have owned it since it came out and have listened to it repeatedly and I am still not sick of it! It is a real blessing.
