Cross Movement
Holy Culture (2003)
Musically, 'Holy Culture? is more of a return to the group's East Coast flavored roots. In touch with Hip-Hop's current pulse, Cross Movement employed more mid-tempo beat bangers designed for the real heads, along with a few soulful singing hooks that are sure to ease the apprehensions of the Hip-Hop sightseer. In addition, songs like 'Cry No More? and 'Forever? will continue Cross Movement's encouraging legacy to the believer, while 'Free,? 'Holy Culture,? and 'L.L.R.P.? challenge the non-believer about the ill rewards of the godless life.
?Holy Culture? is the long awaited, fourth episode of a rich spirit-filled rhythmic odyssey that has seen many Americans, as well as those outside the country, changed by the Gospel through the use of the tool of Hip-Hop.

The beats, the Lyrics and the message -on point. They have everything from "get up and move" beats to "just meditate on this" beats. You can't compare anyone to Cross Movement, this is their best album yet. I think they're the best out there right now, spiritually and musically.

This is a wonderfully hot album that is loved by hip hop fans, but is also accessible to those who have little experience with hip hop. When I saw this group at Creation, I was impressed by the overwhelming positive response toward this group from the older adults in our group. Cross Movement is able to keep their annunciation clean enough that the depth of their lyrics is understandable even to those whose ears are not used to keeping up with the fast-paced flow. At the same time, this music is steeped in the culture of urban Philly. I love this album because I can feel the vibe of the city in every beat. The theme of the album, which is living in the world but not of the world.... living as one transformed by God and thus transforming the culture around us into what God wants it to be, is prevalent in every single song. I think my favorite song is the title track, HOLY CULTURE.

I use some of the tracks on this CD to break the ice with some of the people I know who love hip hop and need Christ. this CD flies in the face of what others in the industry considered to be just a fad and amateurish in execution. This is one of the best CD's that lives by the scripture of 'being wise as serpents, and gentle as doves.' It takes what the enemy tried to use for evil and makes it (rap) into something good.

These rappers are pure clean fun for those of you like me...I love the rap beats of today but can't stand secular lyrics...Cross Movement is very inspirational, and very "God-pointing"...If you know someone who likes to be heard bumpin' down the street but they're listening to secular music, this CD is for them...

The Cross Movement is a great rap group with a strong positive message. There are four members, and they each have their own songs that they rap in on this cd. There are also a few in which all of the members rap. This is a great cd. Cross movement are talented rappers, and every song has a positive Christian message. Some of the best songs are It's goin Down, Forever, and many more. This has gotta be their best cd yet. Buy it!

This was the first CD i bought of theirs. Well, this has to be one of the best purchases I've made. The CD is full of lyrics that inspire and run through my head, teaching the truths of God. And the hooks and beats cannot deny that these men are reclaiming Hip-hiop for Christ. Trying to test out Christians hip-hop? Get this CD and you won't be disappointed!
