Atlanta-based group Casting Crowns has crafted their driving pop-rock style for more than three years as the worship band for their home church. Catching the attention of key music leaders, Casting Crowns has become the first artist on a new imprint founded by Mark Miller of country super group Sawyer Brown, and the band's self-titled debut is being produced by Miller and multiple Dove Award winner Steven Curtis Chapman. Casting Crowns includes straight-forward lyrics aimed at the church, including 'If We Are The Body.? 'Casting Crowns is something really unique. The melodies are really compelling. I was immediately hit between the eyes by these lyrics. They really challenged me and encouraged me. All that and the band has a youth ministry to back it up!? Steven Curtis Chapman, Co?Producer. 'Mark Hall and Casting Crowns seem endless in their musical diversity. 'If We Are The Body,? is a powerful song that inspires and encourages people everywhere to reach out to each other. This song speaks to the heart.? Mark Miller of Sawyer Brown, Co-Producer .

This is a very nice album. No wonder its in the top list everywhere. Lyrics are very practical and the melodies are good. If you are a Mercy Me fan, then you'll love this album.

Being a hardcore Pillar fan, contemporary music isn't the type of music I like the best... When I visited my Christian bookstore about a month ago, looking for a new Christian rock CD to listen to, the (old) lady that was on shift at the time showed me this CD and said "They've had a #1 song for a very long time in the US, and it's truly a great CD"... So I took it in my hands and looked at it, pretending to be interested, while thinking in my head "What does this (old) lady know in music, anyways!! haha!" So I get home that night, and I tune in to Christian radio to hear the Rock Block, but before it started, the contemporary countdown was finishing and their song "Who Am I?" had the #1 spot.. so I'm like "Hey! Let's listen to this"... and after hearing it, I had shivers going down my spine... If there is a song that really touched me deep inside, it had to be that song... and that song alone is worth buying the CD. After all the stupid things we do, who are WE that God would care to even know our name?.... Other good songs on the CD are "American Dream", "What If His People Prayed" and the #1 single "If We Are The Body"... The only song I did not particularly enjoy is "Praise You With The Dance"... but that's me personally.......

GREAT album

This is one of those albums you could listen to two or three times in a row and still wanna hear every song. Theres no mid to end of album filler songs, which I hate. Their songs elicit intense emotion and remind us what it really all about. I love artists who don't hold back and water things down.

As a person always looking for great new christitan bands, I came across Casting Crowns early this spring, and have really enjoy their music. While they don't have a truely distinct sound, their lyrics completely make up for that. From the rock and roll sound of "What If His People Prayed", to the thought provoking "If We Are The Body", to the worshipful "Who Am I", Casting Crowns does a wonderful job of mixing up their sound, and adding the worship in this disk, making it worthy of the top of the charts rankings it has been recieving.

Being a teenager in a wonderful youth group, I always strive to find great, inspirational music. Once I heard Casting Crowns' first single, I knew that it was perfect for youth. I had no idea that they were a group for their youth group. It was amazing. This group isn't only just for youth- it's for everyone!

This is an awsome cd. I love the songs "If we are the body" and "Who am I" that they play on the radio, but what really surprised me were the other great songs that I'd never heard of like "Voice of Truth" and "Here I Go Again." This is an amazing cd that everyone should buy.

Good but Obvious

I really enjoy the lyrics, and melodies of this CD and group, but there is a downside to them. Their lyrics are basically stating the obvious, but they are still challenging. The harmonies and vocals are awesome but not overly original. But I still would recommend them to anyone who likes pop/contemporary/worshipful and anyone else. They are an awesome group.
