Stories & Songs picks up where the best-selling Song Cinema left off, delivering cozy melodies often punctuated with emotional twists that leave the listener both inspired and teary-eyed. As always, Schultz's soulful voice is front and center on these mostly piano-based tracks. Co-writers Cindy Morgan, James Elliott, and Chris Eaton lend their skills on a few tracks; with Morgan's contribution to 'Letters From War' making it one of the standout songs on the album. All said, Stories & Songs is Schultz's best release to date, and is a must have!

A Must Have!

Mark's best album as of its release, "Stories And Songs" is powerfully stirring.
"You Are A Child Of Mine" opens the CD and is a song of God's reminder that we are His children.
"Everywhere" focuses on the omnipresence of God.
"Letters From War" is the story of Mark's great-grandmother and the letters she wrote and received from her son who was serving his country during World War II.
"Do You Even Know Me Anymore" is a story of a man so wrapped up in his career that he missed living his life, his wife, and seeing his son grow up.
"Time That Is Left" asks the question what we are going to do with the time that is left.
"Running Just To Catch Myself" reveals Mark's sense of humor. The song is so full of mishaps and crazy adventures it tickles your funny bone. Everything from McMuffins to paper cuts, an angry boss who gets your name wrong to looking for your stapler.
"It's Been A Long Time" is about breaking out of the walls we build around ourselves, and being who we are.
"He Will Carry Me" is my favorite song. Through the trials of life, God will carry us.
"Just To Know You" is the soaring song of Christ's sacrifice just so He could know us, and our offering of surrendering everything just to know Him.
"Closer To You" was influenced by two women Mark knew before their passing on to glory, and how they looked at their last days as just one day closer to God.
"Time That Is Left Reprise" ends the CD with the chorus of "Time That Is Left" remixed.

My wife and I were listening to this CD before I deployed. When "Letters From War" started we both teared up. Now that I am away from her, this is the song that makes me feel emotionally connected. Mark Schultz is one of the best song writers out there. This is a wonderful CD and a must for everyone.

Mark Schultz - Stories and Songs

Grab a kleenex and get ready for some thought provoking songs that'll keep your mind off yourself and on God's grace. The basic message in this CD is that there is limited time here on earth to fulfill the duty of being a Christian and most of us waste it. What will you do with the time that's left,is a question in one of Mark's songs. It's the theme of the album. Some of the messages are very heartwarming, some will hit you like a ton of bricks, but all are eye opening. This is a wonderful CD to own, and I would definitely suggest that you add it to your CD collection. Time after time, Mark will capture your heart, and take it to amazing places.

EXCELLENT!

Mark Schultz is an EXCELLENT songwriter and has some nice music to go with the lyrics. His songs always seem to hit home with me. First with He's My Son on his debut CD and now with Letters from War. Its the story of a mother and the letters she writes to her son who is off in the war. One of the more upbeat songs is Running Just To Catch Myself. You have to listen to the lyrics, its hilarious.

Mark Schultz: Stories and Songs

Once again, Mark Schultz shows just how powerful songwriting, clever lyrics, and sheer talent can truly testify to just how great a god we serve. Every song is packed with emotionally stirring songs that really mean a lot to the listener. Even the first time I heard the song "Child of Mine," I felt like the song was written just for me. And "Letters from War" hit home for me because my family has a long history of military service. I strongly recommend this record. It truly will move you.

Excellent CD for Weak Christians

My cousin loves the song, "Letters from War". It reminds her of the secular song, "Letters from Home" but insists that this song is much better. She isn't a very strong Christian, but this is one of her favorite songs. She's only 17, so I recommended it for teens!
Child of Mine is a really good song as well.
