On Sara's latest, she continues to deliver the thought provoking moments you expect while exposing you to a decidedly more upbeat and bright approach. The musical cornerstone of this album remains Sara's lyrical voice surrounded by an up tempo acoustic/pop alchemy that provides the perfect musical punctuation. Sara reconneects with longtime producte Nate Sabin and stretches her musical wings with the addition of award winning producer, Charlie Peacock.

Compelling
July 17, 2004
Reviewer:

The whole theme of this album was wrapped around the song "Compelled" and I was inspired by its deep impressions of hope that seem to express itself throughout the album.
I connected with Sara's struggles in the song "The Boxer", and was drawn to the longing I also felt in the song "Jeremiah".
I was completely satisfied with this CD, and I look forward to hearing more from Sara Groves in the future.

The Best Yet

There is really nothing that I can say that will do justice to the brilliance that this cd contains. The lyrics are just as magnetic as always, but there is a slightly more intense nature to this cd with the structure of these songs. In all, a masterpiece.

This is among the greatest Christian albums of all times on my list. I've always liked Sara's work, but she completely outdid herself with this album. Every song on this album is brilliant. You need this CD!

Great CD...what can you expect?

Sara Groves, one of the best female artists out there....and boy is there plenty to choose from. This CD is AWESOME. My favorite song is "Boxer", not really sure why, maybe because it is truly artful how she composed it, and the lyrics are very simple but thought provoking. there is not one song on this record that I don't know the words to, and am ashamed to drive to school through the parking lot blaring this CD as loud as my stereo will go.......

This is Sara back to her best, nearly as good as "Conversations". There's a lot of musical texture and variety on show here, and the usual high standard of lyrics that make reading the CD booklet a real blessing.
Highly recommended.

A Superb Album

This entire album is a treat and the songs were catchy the first time I heard them. This is, in my opinion, one of the most well done albums lately. Even if you don't particularly care for Christian music, the tunes alone are very easy listening. I can listen to it over and over and not tire of it. The messages are about Sara Groves' personal life and experiences and they are all on a level that anyone can relate to. A few of my favorites are "Boxer", "Undone", "Roll to the Middle", "Compelled", "What I Thought I Wanted" and---what am I saying, they are all my favorites. I recommend this CD with great sincerity.

New Fan!

I am a new fan of Sara Groves and it is disheartening it has taken me this long to dig deep into her music. I recently bought "The Other Side of Something" and haven't stopped listening to it. There isn't a sinlge song on the album I don't like. There are two songs, "Roll To The Middle" and "Undone," that I can't particularly relate because they talk about her relationship with her husband, both good (Undone) and bad(Roll to the Middle) times, but they are still great songs.
My favorites are "One Thing I Know," "Jeremiah," "Esther," which is not about Esther from the Bible, but Sara's great aunt Esther, and "The Boxer." "All I Need" is really creative and cute!
I got the special edition that contains a bonus disc with an interview of Sara Groves, talking about ht einspirations for the songs. You cnnect more, I think, with the songs after knowing where they started. Also included on the bonus disc are demos for a few songs, three of which are on OSofS, "Roll to the Middle," "Like a Skin," and "Compelled." You can also print off lead sheets for "One Thing I Know," "First Song," "The Word," and "Compelled" from the disc.
From what I understand, Sara Groves plays the piano. I would have liked to have seen that she played on the album.
Definitely should be included in your CCM collection, especially Nichole Nordeman fans.
