On a scale of 1-5, Jesus Freak is a 7

Jesus Freak is arguably the most influential Christian music CD to date. Personally, it inspired me to live unashamedly for Christ. Besides the incredible message it has, there are humorous intermissions, especially the Jesus Freak reprise. The music is great - Toby, Mike, and Kevin are extremely gifted. DC Talk is my all-time favorite band, and Jesus Freak is my all-time favorite record.

In my opinion this album is 10 out of 5! When Jesus Freak first came out it was "ahead of its time". Now almost ten years later Jesus Freak is right on! The album has a great blend of rock/rap, guitar/vocals, easy listening/rock & roll. It a peice of musical art work combined with thought provking/challanging lyrics

Soulful Album

This album by DC Talk has many inspired songs with the obvious one being "Jesus Freak". It speaks about how we should go about in the world proclaiming out love for Christ without being ashamed, and that's a truth I've been trying to grasp for a long time. "What If I Stumble" is also a real down to earth song which speaks about our failures in life but even then God will continue loving us. Great album with the full dcTalk style woven into it.

Musical greatness

If a handful of Christian CDs were to be dubbed "the best of the best in Christian music," "Jesus Freak" would be right there among the top contenders (Jars of Clay's self-titled album, Seven Day Jesus' self-titled album, etc. being among the others . . .). dcTalk, with "Jesus Freak," brings a credibility to Christian music often overlooked by many mainstream critics. The title track is amazing, "In the Light" an inspiration with every listen, and "Colored People" an old message, made new again. Definitely check this one out if you don't already own it.

This album runs straight off the back of Free at Last, with the only difference of it being that much better. The songs are memorable and perfect for a new generation of believers.

Can it get any better?

...the best by far is Jesus Freak. It's the type of CD that can appeal to every taste. While most of the tracks are rock, there are some rap/rock moments mixed in on tracks like Jesus Freak and Like It, Love It, Need It.
Of all the non-current bands I know of, dcTalk has the most hits that can STILL be heard on Christian radio stations. Obviously, Jesus Freak is the most widespread, and it's no wonder. The chorus will always be a classic. But the popularity of this album doesn't end with Jesus Freak and (it's comical reprise). Tracks like So Help Me God, Day By Day, What Have We Become?, and In My Mind's Eye have been top hits of theirs forever.
If you like something a little less-upbeat, In the Light delivers. Many Christian people, even those who aren't big music fans, will recognize this song. The song and it's message only add to the classic collection of tracks on this CD.
Two of today's top band's, Tait and tobyMac, are from dcTalk, and any fan of either will love it's source.
