Superchic[k] rocks July 15, 2004
Reviewer: Lauren from USA

What is a Superchic[k] you ask? It can be defined as (1) whoever's in their van when it leaves (2) a gender-neutral term for someone who is figuring out the path to greatness that God intended for them. Musically, Superchic[k] refer to themselves as a "super fun pop-punk disco DJ teen power band." Karaoke Superstars, the debut album from InPop's first U.S. band, Superchic[k], might not be for everyone - you just might find yourself turning up the volume and singing along, so watch out.

Superchic[k] is a band with a strong message. Their ever-popular song, 'Barlow Girls', is a song about 2 sisters who don't date, don't show off their bodies by wearing revealing clothes, but are waiting for their husbands (yet they are the ones getting all the positive attention). It's a song about staying pure in this immodest world we live in today. While the title track, 'Karaoke Superstars', might sound like a bad teen pop group, it's really a song about someone who stands up for Jesus no matter what anyone else thinks. Like a "karaoke superstar" would sing along to the music at the top of their lungs, not caring about what anyone else thinks, we should be "karaoke superstars" for Christ - living our lives for Him regardless of other people's opinions.

'TV Land' is a song trying to make the world "safe to be ordinary". The song is full of cute little puns about TV culture and how it is the opposite of the real world. The song is trying to show that it's ok to be "normal" and not some supermodel with problems that can be solved before the end of the show. One of my favorites on the album, 'Let It Be', really shows what lead singer Trisha Brock's voice is really capable of. It's also a song about laying our burdens on God and forgetting about them. "Brick by brick" we can get rid of the things that are keeping us down and become the free person that God intended us to be. Other highlights on the album include 'Get Up', and 'Big Star Machine'.

Superchic[k] has gotten a lot of attention, even before their album was released in stores. MTV has played Get Up and TV Land on their show "The Real World", the WB Network and ESPN have been using their songs, and Karaoke Superstars was even featured in the motion picture "The Glass House". While the band is getting a lot of secular/media attention, and even thinking of signing onto a mainstream label, their ministry is very strong. Their super-charged music is geared towards the MTV generation of teens, which may not appeal to all of us Christian music listeners. But, Superchic[k]'s bold music might just make the perfect opportunity for teens to share Jesus with their un-saved friends, and that is what the band is all about.

WOOHOO August 11, 2004
Reviewer: Austin from USA

This is the cd that started it all. Its not quite as hard rock as other albums, more of a pop sound, but still a very good album.

funny punk, pop&rock. September 22, 2004
Reviewer: Kayla from The east coast

This cd is incredibly awesome. I love the song "Karaoke superstars" with a punk poppy sound. "One Girl Revolution" was on 'Legally Blonde" and totally rocks. It has a really cool bass riff. The song "Barlow Girl" is about 3 sisters who don't date. The 3 sisters have actually formed the band "Barlow Girl". Superchick also has a girl guitarist. Superchick has soo many awesome songs on this cd!

Superchick is the Coolest! November 21, 2004
Reviewer: lisa from Florida

Superchick is a great band with a great message, and this cd is the proof! I could dance around singing along to these songs all day. Each of the songs on this cd, (like Big Star Machine and One Girl Revolution, two of my personal favorites.) are exciting and fun to listen to. This is definitely my idea of a five star cd!

Welcome to the world of Superchic(k) December 8, 2004
Reviewer: Nigel from UK

Brilliant upbeat pop/punk/rock from Superchick. Kinda has the feel of Relient K about it, with more of a pop emphasis with more use of synths and stuff.

Really fun album with clever lyrics.

Go, Superchick! June 9, 2005
Reviewer: Anonymous from U.S.

This CD is full of fun and encouraging lyrics! Two of the songs that stand out the most on it would have to be "One Girl Revolution" (which you may have heard in movies) and "Barlow Girls" (a personal favorite!). Some of the songs are fun and a bit silly, like "TV Land" and "Super Trouper" , but others are more meaningful like "Help Me Out God" and "Let It Be." "One Girl Revolution", "Not Done Yet", and "Get Up" are bound to boost your self-confidence!
Karaoke Superstars is a CD that is for fans of fun, encouraging pop/rock songs!
