Praise & Worship Petrafied!

Petra followed their first Petra Praise project "The Rock Cries Out" (1989) with the 1997 release Petra Praise 2: We Need Jesus. The result is even better than the first album. John Schlitt, Bob Hartman and company deliver an excellent rock praise album with great musicianship and outstanding vocal arrangements. My overall favorite track is "Ancient of Days." Other noteworthy tracks include "Lord, I Lift Your Name on High," "Be of Good Cheer," "The Holiest Name," "Let Our Voices Rise Like Incense" and the title track, featuring additional lead vocals by co-producer/ex-Kansas vocalist John Elefante and Foreigner frontman Lou Gramm. Petra Praise 2: We Need Jesus is a great praise & worship album that rocks with lyrics which glorify and give all praise to the Lord God, and I look forward to more praise & worship rock from Petra.

Petra the original rockers for Christ!

I love the rock sound put to praise songs on this album. They do have kind of an eighties sound in the vocal area, but even if that turns you away, there is still plenty of rock and God to go around.
